The 4th Annual GameDev Days Conference organized in cooperation with IGDA Estonia, Game Founders and Creative Mobile proved that the games industry of Estonia is gaining momentum. The theme this year was ‘Indie Heroes’, supported by Derivco, Tune and Supercell celebrated the success stories of indie game developers and shared advice and insight from the leading game developers and mobile business experts in the region.
This year’s conference saw an 30% increase in attendance with over 550 guests and 32 speakers from a variety of countries including Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the UK.
“Gaming is incredibly influential and massively profitable,” said Vladimir Funtikov, Co-Founder of Creative Mobile. “But the market is saturated, distribution channels are very crowded and competitive, and the pace of development of the market has slowed down in most regions. What do you do? Unite and collaborate with each other! That’s the whole reason we are doing this conference.“
Headline talks from Adam Mayes (Gotland University), Jon Hare (Tower Studios), Eric Seufert (Rovio), Jyri Partanen (Remote Control Productions), Teddy Florea (Nordic Game) and Garrett Weinzierl (PlayWin) were joined by speakers from from ARM, Google, Microsoft, Wargaming and Unity. Representatives from Enterprise Estonia (EAS) were on hand to share the benefits of Estonian E-residency and to answer questions of Living and Working in Estonia.
“The event’s goal is to unite Estonian Game Developers with the European business scene.” said Event Coordinator Marianna Krjakvina. “We want to provide them with a chance to meet world leading companies in the industry.“
Talks from this year’s conference are available on the GameDev Days YouTube Channel.
After the conference, attendees were treated to an evening of fantasy and glamour at the Kochi Aidad pub with the theme “Once Upon a Time in Reval”, which featured a fashion show of costumes and dresses by St.Petersburg fashion designer Emilia Ardenn.
